Level 1 Plus Training, Mental Health and SmokeFree: for Southern Health In-Patient Staff
This 1 day course has been created for Mental Health In-Patient staff at Southern Health Foundation Trust.
The course has been tailored to provide Southern Health staff with the skills to support patients who are being cared for within a smoke-free hospital, and aims to:
- Enable participants to understand the SHFT Smokefree trust policy, and the practicalities of working with Mental Health in-patients who smoke.
- Provide an understanding of how to support patients, who smoke whilst within our care, to manage their withdrawal from nicotine.
- Understand nicotine addiction and withdrawal, and the use of nicotine replacement therapy and e-cigarettes.
- Understand the implications of stopping smoking on mental health medications and how to manage this.
